Description
Numbers 28 and 30 on Church Lane are two cottages that have been combined into a single house. They date back to around 1600, with some alterations made in the 19th century and a restoration and conversion completed around 1990.
Number 28 features timber framing with red brick nogging, a granite rubble stone plinth, and a front roof covered in Swithland slate, while the rear is finished with Swithland and Welsh slate. The roof has a projecting stack at the right end. The building is two storeys high and includes a 1-light casement window and a 3/3 sash window above the door, along with another 1-light window. The front displays two bays of timber framing, with wall posts and braces visible, and closely set studs at the right end. Inside, there are two ceiling beams with moulded chamfers, tie beam trusses with diagonal braces, and clasped principal rafters.
Number 30 is connected to Number 28 by a single-storey flat-roofed addition, which is not of special interest.
