Description
Stenson Lock and the attached bridge to the east are located on the Trent and Mersey Grand Trunk Canal and date from around 1777. The bridge is constructed of red brick with sandstone dressings, featuring sandstone quoins and copings. It has a single segmental arch and an oval metal plaque above inscribed with the number 19. The walls of the bridge curve out to the end piers. The lock, which is attached to the west of the bridge, is made of brick with the upper courses in sandstone and has sandstone copings. It also features timber lock gates.
