Manor Farmhouse

SK 21 NE PARISH OF CAULDWELL MAIN STREET 3/8 (East Side) 19.1.67 Manor Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse. Late C18 with minor later alterations. The building has two distinct parts, both of red brick. The southern part has stone and gauged brick dressings, stone plinth, stone ground floor sill band and slate roof with stone coped gables, brick gable stacks and bracketed stone cornice with central pediment. The northern part has plain brick dressings, a plain tile roof with northern brick gable stack and northern stone coped gable plus stepped eaves band. Southern part has three storeys plus basement and three bays with central bay slightly advanced and pedimented. Northern part is recessed and has two storeys and two bays. Main elevation of southern part has pedimented Tuscan columned doorcase with semi-circular headed panelled door. To either side there are glazing bar sashes and above there are three similar, shallower sashes. Above again three further shallower similar sashes. All windows have flat gauged brick arches with stone keystones. Rear elevation has central circular basement window, Venetian staircase window above and sashes below flat arches. Main elevation of northern part has a segment headed doorcase to south with panelled door below divided overlight and two segment headed casement windows to north. Above two similar windows. Interior of southern part has an open well staircase with three knopped, column on vase, balusters to each tread and newels made up of four similar balusters.
