Description
Haston Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a hipped slate roof with a square plan. The building has three storeys above a basement and is adorned with a dentil brick eaves cornice. There are brick ridge stacks located off-centre to the left and right. The facade consists of three bays with horizontal-sliding glazing bar sashes, except for a vertical sliding sash on the ground floor to the left, all topped with gauged brick segmental heads.
The central entrance features a six-panelled door, where the lower two panels are flush and the top four are glazed. This door is framed by a painted stone doorcase with Tuscan columns and an entablature that returns to the wall, along with a three-part rectangular overlight. The two-bay return fronts primarily have horizontal sliding sashes, but some are blind with painted imitation sashes and there are also small-paned casements. The right-hand return front has wrought-iron spearhead railings surrounding external stone steps that lead down to a segmental-headed boarded basement door. At the rear, there is a two-storey lean-to.
Inside, the staircase features stick balusters and a columular newel post. Each ground-floor front room is equipped with a picture rail, moulded cornice, and reeded soffit. The left-hand room includes a fireplace with reeded pilaster strips, a panelled frieze with a central oval patera, a moulded cornice, and a cast-iron grate, along with panelled window shutters.
