Description
The Green Man is a public house located in the parish of Willington Canal Bridge, dating from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century. It features painted brick and render construction with a plain tile roof that has brick gable and ridge stacks. The 19th-century section includes a dentil cornice.
The building is two storeys high, with the east elevation consisting of six irregular bays. On the ground floor, from left to right, there are double doors leading to a garage, a small segment-headed window, a segment-headed doorway with a plank door, a doorway with a wedge lintel and a half-glazed door, followed by a pair of glazing bar sashes, another doorway with a wedge lintel and a 20th-century door, a glazing bar sash, a flat-roofed 20th-century porch, a glazing bar sash, and a small square window. The first floor has five sash windows, with the left two featuring single bars, and to the right, there is a small rectangular window. The return range to the right has one small window. The rear elevation shows an outshut under a catslide roof on the older part of the building.
