Description
The Bretby Art Pottery Showroom is an early 20th-century building designed as a showroom for Bretby Art Pottery. It is a small structure, slightly set back from the street boundary and connected to the pottery works at the rear. The building exhibits Art Nouveau influences and is constructed of glazed red brick with a pyramidal tiled roof featuring a finial, gabled to the left above the showroom window.
The street-facing elevation is a single storey, featuring a window and a door. The gable includes a finial and bargeboards supported by brick corbels, with a tie beam and balusters serving as queen posts. The shop window is set within a brick recess and has a flattened elliptical arch. Above the window, there are glazing bars supporting a tripartite stained glass top light. The panelled door includes a glazed top light displaying the name and trademark of the pottery, alongside a large letter box integrated into the design. A copper strip above the door features Art Nouveau lettering.
Inside, the showroom boasts a good fireplace, panelled doors, and decorative elements such as painted doors, murals, and decorative metalwork.
