Description
The Old School House is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one building. It dates from the early 19th century and is likely the work of William Martin, who was the estate architect for the Earl of Chesterfield. The structure is made of red brick and features hipped plain tile roofs, with gables at the rear and both ridge and gable stacks. The building has one and two storeys and the south elevation consists of two bays, one bay, and two bays. The central bay is set forward and has two storeys. On the ground floor, there is a triangular-headed three-light casement window, while above it is a two-light casement window set under a flat arch. To the left, there is a blocked doorway and two two-light casement windows, all of which are under slightly arched wedge brick lintels. To the right, there is a doorway with a plank door and two similar windows, also under slightly arched wedge brick lintels.
