Description
This is a set of eight garden urns and accompanying steps located in the sunken garden to the west of Radbourne Hall, dating from the late 18th century. The urns are made of Coade stone and sandstone. There are two flights of sandstone steps at the center of the east and west sides of the sunken garden, with a pair of garden urns at the base of each flight. Each urn features a square plinth adorned with laurel leaf circles on each side, supporting a thistle-shaped urn with a moulded base. The bottoms of the urns are fluted and display pairs of grotesque heads on the north and south sides, while the necks are decorated with vines in relief. In addition, there are four more urns at each corner of the garden, each resting on deep square plinths with square bases. These urns are shaped like wide, shallow bowls with a wide lip and also feature grotesque heads on the north and south sides. The urns are included for their group value only.
