Description
The kitchen gardens to the east of Foremark Hall consist of walls, vine houses, potting sheds, stables, and a garden house, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some additions from around 1900. The structures are built of red brick with ashlar dressings and feature plain tile roofs. The large rectangular kitchen garden is enclosed by walls that rise to 4 metres high, topped with ashlar coping.
In the north-west section, there are lean-to vine houses attached to the inner walls, and potting sheds on the outer walls, which include five plank doors and nine two-light sliding sash windows with glazing bars and segment heads. These sheds have slate roofs and five groups of stacks.
At the centre of the west wall, there is a gateway featuring four circular brick columns with ashlar bases that support a now decayed thatched roof, along with a wooden gate and railings. Adjacent to the west is a short wall with a round-headed niche that contains an ashlar water trough, leading to an ogee-headed Gothic archway that forms the southern boundary of the potting shed yard. To the north is a section of garden wall, and to the west is the rear of a stable range, which has a west front with alternating stable doors and windows, all beneath a continuous wooden lintel or wall plate.
To the southwest, there is a small formal garden enclosed by railings and a gate, along with a small garden house that features a verandah supported by rustic poles, and further outbuildings located at the rear.
