Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on the Main Road in Shirland and Higham. It is built of coursed squared sandstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is slate, topped with a stone ridge and brick gable end stacks. Stone coped gables feature plain kneelers. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. A set of two steps leads to the central flush doorcase, which contains a 20th-century panelled glazed door. To either side of the door are two-light flush mullion windows with 19th-century casements. A blocked doorcase is visible to the south of the house. Above the door is a single-light flush window with a small-pane casement. To either side of this window are further two-light flush mullion windows with 19th-century casements.
