Description
Nos 22-26 on High Street is a mid-19th century terrace. It is constructed from coursed squared coal measures sandstone and features quoins, plain gables, and ashlar stone stacks at the intermediate and end points. The roof is covered with concrete tiles and Welsh slates. The building has two storeys and consists of six bays, with Nos 22 and 24 being double fronted. These properties have sash windows with a single glazing bar set in flush ashlar surrounds. The central doorways have semi-circular arched heads, with glazed overlights and 20th-century doors, one of which is glazed and the other flush. Nos 25 and 26 are single bay dwellings that feature 20th-century casements beneath deep lintels, within plain surrounds. Their doorways have massive stone jambs and heavy lintels. This terrace is included for its group value only.
