Description
This is a road bridge built around 1840 for the North Midland Railway Company, located 175 metres south of the Renishaw Park Golf Clubhouse in Eckington. It is constructed from coursed squared coal measures sandstone with ashlar dressings. The east elevation features two flat segmental arches, each with voussoirs and projecting keyblocks. A bold roll moulding at the arch head extends to the stepped and slightly splayed abutment ends. The shallow parapet is made of rock-faced masonry topped with broad plain ashlar coping. There is a central pier with a domed and pointed cutwater, and the arches are lined with brick. The bridge spans the River Rother.
