Description

Yew Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 17th century, with later alterations from the 17th century. It is constructed from coursed, squared sandstone with gritstone dressings and quoins. The roof is covered with plain tiles and features stone eaves courses and ridges, along with moulded stone copings and kneelers at the gables. A large central stone stack is present. The building has a cross plan with front and rear bays that are slightly lower than the central section. It stands two storeys tall, plus attics and a basement, and consists of three bays.

The advanced central bay features a central, square sectioned, flush mullion and transom window, which has a moulded hood above it. To the south side of this bay, there is a chamfered quoined flush doorcase with a shouldered lintel, leading to a 20th-century door. Beyond this, there is a similar cross window. To the north, there are two similar windows. On the upper floor, there are three similar windows, with an additional one above in the central gable. A stone sundial is located immediately above the central bay. To the north, under the eaves, there is a blocked small single light flush opening. All the windows are 20th-century single pane casements, and the rear features various recessed and chamfered mullion windows.
