Description
Throstle Nest Cottages is a terrace of five cottages built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and feature a slate roof, which has one brick gable end stack and four brick ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, and the west elevation is identical for each cottage. From left to right, there is a 3-light square section mullion window with four paned casements and fixed lights, with a similar window above. To the right of the windows, there is a doorway with stone lintel and jambs, featuring a contemporary plank door with raised moulding around the edge and a horizontal lower panel, along with a latch type handle and central knocker. This design is repeated four times across the terrace. In front of the cottages, there are late 18th or early 19th century railings, consisting of eight posts linked by two tiers of chains.
