Description

Padfield Brook Farmhouse, dating to the early 17th century, was later altered in the 19th and 20th centuries and is now a house. It is constructed of narrow coursed millstone grit with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof with kneelers and stone stacks, one of which has watertabling. The building has an L-shaped plan with a catslide roof to the angle, and a gable-ended entry.

The garden front features a flush gabled crosswing on the left. The off-centre doorway has a chamfered ashlar surround and a large shaped lintel, flanked by single 20th-century bow windows. Above are two 20th-century glazing bar casements. The street front has an irregular two-window facade. A 20th-century glazed door is located to the left, with a large 19th-century three-light casement beside it. Further along are a five-light and a two-light chamfered mullion window; the two-light window is now blocked. Above are a three-light casement in a chamfered surround and a four-light casement with a central mullion in a chamfered surround at eaves level. The right return has three-light chamfered mullion windows to each floor, and above, a blocked single light garret window. The interior was not inspected.
