Description
The mounting block, which includes a dog kennel, is likely from the 19th century and is constructed of gritstone. It features a triangular shape with five steps on either side. The front has a central small stiled arch adorned with a complex moulded architrave and a dripmould above, which is decorated with carved foliage stops. On either side of the arch, there are stylised carvings of rose trees. Above the arch, there is an incised carving in the shape of a bow. Flanking the arch are carved heads of a man and a woman. At the top, within a moulded roundel that has bones on either side, is a carving of a dog's head. Additional decorative elements include carved leaves and ribbons, along with a round arch above the dripmould. The sides of the steps have an overhang with rounded nosing and a moulding below.
