Description
Waterside Cottage is a house dating from the 17th and 19th centuries, situated in the parish of Chinley, Buxton and Brownside. The house is constructed of coursed squared gritstone, with the 19th-century section rock-faced, and features quoins to the 17th-century section. Gritstone dressings are present, along with a stone slate roof and stone gable and ridge stacks.
The building is two storeys high with an irregular arrangement of windows. The western section is from the 19th century and contains a blocked flush doorcase and a window beyond. To the west is a 17th-century quoined doorcase with an incised fillet around its edges. A recessed and chamfered two-light mullion window is situated next to the doorcase. Above the door is a 20th-century window within a recessed and chamfered opening, formerly a two-light window. Two 20th-century windows are located above this in the 19th-century section. The east gable wall has a 17th-century four-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with a dripmould. Above is a similar window missing one mullion. To the north is a recessed and chamfered opening, formerly a three-light window, also with a dripmould.
