Description
Sabine Hay is a house built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared gritstone with gritstone dressings and quoins, topped with plain tile roofs featuring stone gable end and ridge stacks. The east gable of the western addition has a stone coped gable with a plain kneeler. The building is two storeys tall and has an L-plan, consisting of three bays by two bays.
The south elevation features a two-bay 18th-century cottage on the east side, which has an advanced, taller 19th-century addition to the west. The 18th-century cottage includes a flush quoined doorcase with a wooden porch above. To the west, there is a 2-light flush mullion window with shutters, while the east side has a 19th-century plain sash window in a flush surround. Above these, there are two 2-light flush mullion windows. In the 19th-century addition to the west, there is a plank door beneath a plain lintel, with a casement window above in a flush surround.
The east elevation of the 19th-century addition features a large central two-storey canted bay window, which has plain sill bands and a moulded cornice. All sides of the bay window are fitted with four-pane fixed light windows above and below.
