Description
The Large Boat House on the main lake in Osmaston Park was built in the late 1840s, likely by Stevens of Derby. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone with sandstone dressings and features a brick tunnel vault. The entrance facing the lake has a broad elevation with a dressed stone round arch that includes a keystone, supported by semi-circular cutwaters. The side walls are curved and have end piers, topped with a coped parapet that serves as a footbridge over the boat house. The land entrance is accessed via twin flights of stone steps that lead down to a round arched doorway, with a parapet wall above.
