Description

This is a late 18th-century barn located in the parish of Yeldsersley. It is constructed of rubble stone and brick, with plain tile roofs. The barn follows an L-shaped plan, with a long north range extending over 200 feet. The north elevation is particularly striking due to the land sloping away to the west. The lower portion of the north wall is built of rubble stone. There are two later outshuts with catslide roofs, and a later addition to the east. The north elevation features a dramatic appearance with continuous rows of slit breather openings in two and three tiers. One blocked doorway and one blocked window are present on the north elevation, both with segmental arches. The south elevation, which faces the farmyard, has segmental arched doorways and windows, some of which are now blocked, along with two tiers of continuous rows of slit breather openings, most now blocked. A lower east range features both breathers and segmental arched windows.
