Description

The Bakery is a house dating from the 17th century, which was refronted in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of sandstone and red brick, topped with a plain tile roof. The north elevation features three bays and includes a chamfered stone plinth, a first floor band, a brick dentil eaves cornice, and flush quoins. The central doorway has a moulded stone surround with a keystone and a lintel adorned with carved foliage relief, leading to a 20th-century plank door. On either side of the doorway are 20th-century canted oriel windows. Above, there are three plain 2-light windows with wooden casements and leaded lights. The lower parts of the gable end walls are made of coursed squared sandstone. Inside, there is a mid-18th-century staircase featuring turned balusters.
