Description

Morledge House is a house located on Thurvaston Road in the parish of Marston Montgomery. It was built in the early 17th century and early 19th century, with a later addition from the 19th century. The house is constructed of red brick featuring vitrified headers, with stone dressings and quoins on the 17th-century section and brick dressings on the early 19th-century part. It has plain tile roofs, with brick gable stacks on the early 19th-century section and a large external brick stack on the 17th-century part.

The house has a T-plan layout, consisting of a three-bay, two-storey early 19th-century section to the north and a gabled single-bay, two-storey 17th-century section to the south, which also includes garrets and a basement. The early 19th-century section features a central Tuscan columned porch with a raised and fielded panelled door, flanked by glazing bar sash windows under flat brick heads. Above this, there are three similar windows.

The 17th-century section has a first-floor moulded string course and a stone-coped gable with moulded kneelers and a ridge finial. The south elevation displays two 2-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, with two similar windows above, linked by a moulded drip mould, and a diamond pattern made of vitrified headers in between. In the gable, there is a single-light window in a chamfered surround. The east elevation has 2-light recessed and chamfered basement windows and two similar stair windows to the north. The late 19th-century addition features segment-headed windows to the west of the 17th-century part. The interior has been gutted, except for a bracketed stone fireplace in the kitchen.
