Description
Hasland Hall School, formerly known as Hasland Hall, dates from around 1800. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a band between the storeys, a cornice, and a blocking course. It has a hipped slate roof and stands two storeys high, with five windows on the front. The first-floor windows are sashes with glazing bars, while the ground-floor windows are unbarred.
A central semi-circular porch is supported by Doric columns and has a panelled frieze, a cornice with mutules, and a blocking course. The entrance includes a round-arched door with an ornamental fanlight and a six-panelled door that has enriched panels, flanked by sidelights and steps. Above, the central first-floor window is adorned with an ornamental surround and a cornice on brackets. The side facades are plain but maintain a similar style.
Inside, there have been some alterations, including a modern staircase, but the building retains elliptical arches over the staircase and hall. The hall features moulded pilasters and reeded, panelled reveals. There are moulded plaster ceilings in the hall and two ground-floor rooms, and an oval dome above the staircase. A fireplace displays the Lucas arms above it. There are also rear extensions to the building.
