Description

Birdholme Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located on Derby Road in Wingerworth. It is constructed of coursed squared Coal Measures sandstone with ashlar dressings, featuring coped gables with moulded kneelers and ashlar gable and ridge stacks. The roof is covered in Welsh slate. The west elevation, forming an L-shaped range, is two storeys high and three bays wide. The front of the farmhouse displays a symmetrical design, with a central doorway set within a substantial flush stone frame. The doorway contains a six-panelled door and a rectangular overlight with margin lights. Flanking the doorway are eight-pane glazing bar sashes within flush stone frames. At the first floor, there are three matching glazing bar sashes. The rear range is also three bays wide and similarly detailed with glazing bar sash windows. Some ground-floor windows have been altered and now include 20th-century joinery.
