Description

This building is part of a country house, now converted into flats. It is one of two remaining service wings of Wingerworth Hall, which was completed in 1729 and demolished between 1924 and 1927. It was possibly designed by Francis Smith of Warwick. The construction utilizes gritstone ashlar and squared coursed Coal Measures sandstone, with ashlar dressings, chamfered quoins, and a plain band below a coped parapet.

The east front has two storeys and four bays, featuring cross windows with architraves. A ground-floor window opening has been inserted into the surround in the left-hand bay. The surround of the second ground-floor window appears to be a reconstruction. A doorway has been cut through below the transom of a window surround in the right-hand bay. The south wall has four bays, with a further two bays projecting forwards to the right. The windows of the south wall incorporate mullions and transoms with architraves. A doorway with a keystone leads to the interior, featuring a door made of six raised and fielded panels. The right-hand window of the projecting bays was formerly a doorway and retains its architrave with a keystone. The north wall features two bays with cross windows to the left, followed by four bays to the right.
