Description

This is a mid-19th century house, originally built as a lodge. It is constructed from squared coursed sandstone with gritstone dressings and a slate roof. The building is arranged in a cruciform shape, with a short rear wing to the east and a two-storey gabled porch on the west side.

The west facade has one bay positioned on either side of the porch, each bay containing a two-light mullioned window with hood moulds. The first-floor windows here rise into dormer gables. The porch features an oriel window on the first floor, supported by a stone base and covered by a lead roof. The doorway has a chamfered surround and a hood mould.

Decorative pierced wavy bargeboards adorn all three front gables and the side gables. Canted bay windows, with stone bases and lead roofs, are incorporated into the north and south gable walls, each featuring a two-light chamfered mullioned window on the ground floor. Three ashlar chimneys are symmetrically positioned along the ridge, with a further chimney located near the junction of the main building and the rear wing.
