Description
The Firs Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse located on Nether Lane in the parish of Hazelwood. It features roughcast brickwork, gable stacks at the intermediate and southeast ends, and a roof covered with Welsh slate. The building is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with the southwest bay being lower and set back.
The main range has an off-centre doorway, which is framed by full-height pilasters with plainly moulded capitals. The doorway itself has a moulded lintel with brackets at the ends and includes a recessed four-panelled door. On either side of the doorway, there are single-storey canted bay windows with glazed doors and panelled bases, accompanied by flanking lights.
Above the doorway, there are tripartite glazing bar windows, featuring casements in the lower parts of the side lights, with lintels that match the doorway's design. A similar window can be found on the ground floor at the northeast end. Additionally, there is a recessed bay with stacked windows that match those of the main range, along with a pitched roofed porch at the angle of the two ranges.
