Description
The saw mill and attached engine house in Kedleston Park, now used for storage, date from the early to late 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with plain tile roofs, featuring a brick ridge stack and a tall tapering free-standing stack. It is two storeys high and has a T-plan layout. The south elevation of the early 19th-century range consists of seven bays. The ground floor includes, from the left, a Gothick window, a doorway with a timber lintel and stable doors, two additional Gothick windows, a Gothick doorway with a plank door, two more Gothick windows, and a doorway with a segment head and a plank door. Above, there are five Yorkshire sash windows and a doorway with a half-glazed door. At the rear, there is a lean-to cart shed. The late 19th-century engine house is located to the right, forming the 'T' shape, and features a gabled porch to the southeast with a semi-circular arch. A free-standing chimney is attached to the right side of the building.
