Description

The lock to the Cromford Canal, located at SK 440 517, was constructed in 1792 by William Jessop and Benjamin Outram. It is made of coursed squared stone and features a long stone basin with ashlar copings. There are indents at both ends for housing the gates, which are currently missing. This lock is one of the few remaining locks on the eastern end of the Cromford Canal.
