Description
The South Lodges are a pair of lodges, likely built around 1775 by George Richardson, which were moved and extended on each side in 1813-14. They are connected by metal railings and gate piers. The east elevation is symmetrical, with the right pavilion featuring a tall recessed round arch that has a plain impost band, containing a glazing bar sash and a small window. It has a rosette frieze and a pedimented gable. There is a projecting lean-to bay to the right with a blind window, an impost band, and a moulded cornice. The left pavilion mirrors the right. Between the two lodges are plain square gate piers with moulded caps, linked by iron railings and a pair of gates. The west elevation is similar but includes a doorway and a window in the lean-tos.
