Description
Nos 1 to 5 Chevin Alley is a late 18th-century terrace of three-storey houses, noted in the Strutt survey of 1792. The terrace slopes down the hillside between Chevin Road and Derby Road, with No 2 Milford Road being part of the same block. The buildings are constructed of coursed stone and feature a sloping slate roof, although No 1 is now roughcast. There are brick chimneys and each house has one window, with additional windows on the top floor, generally consisting of sashes with late 19th-century glazing. This terrace is an early example of sloping roof construction. Stone garden walls in front create the street boundary for the triangular area of land between the two roads.
