Description

The gateway to Burley-on-the-Hill, possibly from the 17th century, is constructed from coursed squared rubble. It features a wide round arched opening with voussoirs and a dropped keystone, along with a blank shield above. The gateway is framed by plain piers, a cornice, and a pediment that is topped by obelisks. This structure is similar to the south gate in Hambleton Parish and likely relates to the earlier 17th-century house on the site, which was built by the Duke of Buckingham in the first half of the 17th century.
