Description

No. 12, The Leas is a house dating from 1710, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with stone dressings, topped by a Welsh slate roof featuring a moulded stone ridge and end stacks. The house has a stone plinth and stone-coped gables. The two-and-a-half storeys include three 19th-century dormers with 3/3 sash windows. The ground floor windows are arranged as a 3/3 sash, a 2/4 stair sash, a 3/3 sash, followed by two stone steps leading to a porch with a partly glazed door, and finally another 3/3 sash window. Stone sills are present throughout. Above the porch is a stone tablet inscribed with "Thomas Jackson 1710". A less significant extension is attached to the right. Internally, the house features stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and an encased inglenook.
