Description
The Jackson Stops Public House, originally a house, dates back to 1721, although it may be older. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a thatched roof with a stone central ridge, left end stacks, and a stone-coped left gable. The building has 1½ storeys and a part basement, which includes three 3-light eyebrow dormers. On the ground floor, there is a 3-light stone mullion window, a similar 2-light window in the basement, a 1-light window, and a door with a stone frame that is accessed by three stone steps. Additionally, there is a large one-storey extension on the right end of the building. Inside, there are beams and a double inglenook fireplace. Above the door, there is a stone tablet inscribed with 'SB 1721'. The public house was formerly known as The White Horse.
