Description
No. 6 High Street West is a house dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of squared stone and features a roof made of Collyweston stone slates on the front slope, with plain tiles on the rear. The stone ridge stacks have been rebuilt in the 20th century. Designed in a Tudor style, the house has two storeys and attics, with a double-fronted layout that includes a central projection and a three-window range. The building has a very weathered plinth, which may indicate an earlier structure, and a cornice.
The windows are ovolo-moulded mullioned types with casement openings and plain 20th-century glazing. The central window has two lights, while the flanking bays each have three lights, all featuring hood-moulds. There are three gabled dormers, each with decorative kneelers, ovolo-moulded details, cornices, and lozenge-shaped panes of glazing, which are consistent with the glazing found throughout the rear of the house.
