Description
Bains Press School is a house that has been converted into a shop and school, dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Collyweston stone slate roof with a coped west gable. The building has ridge and end stacks, with stone bases and brick shafts. It stands two storeys high. The entrance is off-centre and has a Tudor arch, with a 20th-century door. Flanking the entrance are two 2-storey canted bay windows, each with 5-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned windows, although the ground floor window of the east bay has been replaced by a shop window. There is also a later doorway to the west, which is beneath a timber lintel.
