Description
No. 5 Chapel Street is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It features well-coursed rubble and a stone tiled roof. The building has two storeys with an attic and a two-unit plan. On the left side, there is a three-light stone mullioned window on each floor, followed by a doorway with a chamfered timber lintel that opens onto the heck wall of an inglenook inside. To the right, there is a four-light stone mullioned window, with a three-light window above it. Beyond this, there is a blocked doorway with a massive stone lintel, which has been converted into a window. The stonework around the windows is delicately cut and moulded. The house has a single axial stack and two dormers in the roof. Inside, there is an inglenook and chamfered spine beams.
