Description

The war memorial dates to around 1919 and stands on the base of an earlier cross. The memorial features a tall, moulded shaft topped with a cross and a decorative capital. The base is a large, squared block with engraved slates affixed to it, recording the names of those who died. It is mounted on two octagonal steps. Local tradition states that Charles I reputedly sat on the base stone following the Battle of Naseby, and it is known locally as the King's Stone.
