Description

This is a house, dated 1814 and 1859, as indicated by a plaque in the right gable end. It is constructed from semi-dressed ironstone rubble, with quoins of Uppingham stone and pale limestone bands for the sills and lintels. The roof is slate, with coped gables and moulded kneelers. There is a brick chimney on the left side and an ashlar chimney with a moulded necking on the right. The house has two storeys and three bays. The outer bays have three-light wood and metal casement windows; the ground floor windows are transomed. A similar two-light casement window sits on the centre of the first floor, above a six-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight. All openings are topped with shaped lintels featuring triple keyblocks. A small 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the wider group value of the area.
