Description
This is a house located at 1 Church Close, dated 1729 according to a plaque, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a slate roof, pale limestone gable copings, and ashlar limestone chimneys that have pulvinated friezes and cyma recta cornices on the gables. The building has an L-plan layout and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a two-bay front. The windows are 19th-century sash windows, with a narrow sash window in the center above a 20th-century door. All openings are topped with Uppingham stone lintels. The first floor and attic of the left gable end have paired wooden casements from the 20th century. To the right is a former outbuilding that features Uppingham stone dressings and a Collyweston slate roof. This outbuilding is also two storeys high, with a chamfered plinth and a flush band course at the first floor. It has one bay of two-light wooden casements, with the lower window located in a blocked doorway.
