Description
The Old School House is a house located in Empingham, likely built in 1838. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features quoins, stone dressings, a first-floor sill band, and a hipped roof made of Collyweston slate, which has moulded stone side stacks. The building has two storeys and includes three 6/6 sash windows, each with lintels that have keystones. The central entrance consists of a two-leaved door topped with an overlight, where the glazing bars create a diamond pattern, and is sheltered by a flat stone canopy supported by carved consoles. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension with a brick stack. This house was almost certainly built at the same time as the school next door.
