Public house and offices, now cafe. c1880, altered late C20. Red brick, with pink granite ground floor and ashlar dressings. Slate roofs with coped gables and massive coped ridge and side wall stacks. 5 storeys; 6 bays. Angled corner site, with 2 symmetrical fronts. Windows are mainly cross mullioned, with casements or plain sashes. Moulded surrounds to first floor windows. Right front, to Market Street, has a projecting central bay with an ogee gable and finial. Ground floor has 2 reglazed windows and to right, a doorway. First floor has a Tudor arched window, 3-lights, flanked by flat-headed windows, 2-lights. Upper floors have similar fenestration, all flat-headed. Left front, to Upper Parliament Street, mirrors the right front. Recessed centre flanked by projecting side bays with ogee gables. Ground floor has 3 reglazed windows. First floor has a 2-light window flanked by Tudor arched windows, 3-lights. Upper floors have similar fenestration, all flat-headed.
