Description

This gateway, railing, and boundary wall date from 1877 and were designed by TC Hine of Nottingham. They border Newcastle Circus and enclose the grounds south-east of Number 7 Mevell House, extending along Park Drive and Clumber Road East. The structure is built of ashlar and red brick, with blue brick dressings. It features five-panelled square gate piers topped with cornice caps, incorporating two double gates and a smaller single gate. To the left of the main gateway is a 4-metre length of boundary wall with a square end pier and railing. To the right, a longer brick boundary wall extends approximately 120 metres, featuring a plinth, corbel table, and chamfered coping. A late 20th-century gateway marks the wall’s termination. The structure is listed for its group value and significance within the wider Park Estate.
