Description

The churchyard railing and gateway, located 10 meters west of the Church of St Matthias, was built between 1867 and 1868 by T.C. Hine of Nottingham. It is constructed from rockfaced Bulwell stone with wrought-iron elements and features ashlar dressings. The design includes a pair of square gate piers with plinths and pyramidal caps, which are flanked by a stepped low wall that has chamfered coping. This wall supports a spiked railing that extends approximately 40 meters in length, accompanied by a pair of matching gates. The structure is included for its group value.
