Description

The British Waterways warehouse, located to the rear of numbers 17 to 23 on Wilford Street in Nottingham, is a disused canal warehouse built around 1919. It is constructed of brick with a concrete basement, featuring a blue brick plinth and concrete dressings, and has a flat roof behind a parapet. The building includes a plinth, a second-floor sill band, a string course, and chamfered brick eaves. The windows are metal-framed glazing bar casements. The structure has six storeys plus a basement and contains 21 windows arranged in the pattern of 2:1:4:1:4:1:4:1:3. The warehouse has a wedge shape, with a splayed front that follows the line of the canal. The two lower floors feature 2-light segment-arched windows, with loft doors between each pair. The upper floors have similar window styles, with flat-headed windows and bays separated by pilasters.
