Description
The Bentinck Hotel is a public house located on Station Street in Nottingham, built around 1900 and altered in the mid and late 20th century. It features red brick construction with a pink and grey granite plinth and pilasters at the ground floor, ashlar dressings, and a slate mansard roof, all in the Renaissance Revival style. The building has moulded string courses, coped gables with finials, and is three storeys tall plus attics, arranged in a 3 x 3 bay layout.
It occupies a corner site and includes a domed corner tower and prominent gables on each front. The ground floor has a continuous shopfront on both sides, with transomed windows set in rusticated surrounds and doorways at each end. A segment-arched window is located at the corner. The Station Street elevation features a triple window on the first floor, with a single window to the left and a recessed bay window to the right, while above are seven windows. The gable has two windows flanked by single box dormers. The Carrington Street front has a similar arrangement, with three first floor windows and four above.
The interior was refitted in the late 20th century but retains foliage panelled plaster ceilings, along with cornices and arches decorated with vine trail motifs.
