Description
The building is a maltings, now converted into flats, dating from 1899. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has stripped roofs. The structure stands three storeys plus attics and features a five by seven bay layout. The street front has a coped gable with kneelers, and the openings have ashlar sills and lintels set in recessed panels that extend through three floors. In the gable, there are five segment-headed iron glazing bar casements, with three similar oval windows above, all featuring keystones. Above these, there are two oval windows and a shield dated 1899. The north-west front has seven bays, each with three segment-headed openings set in full-height recessed panels. The central bay includes an ornate wooden gabled lucam that rises two storeys. On the roof, there are two rows of three wooden gabled dormers. Adjacent to the main building are the former kilns, which consist of three bays, now raised and topped with flat roofs. This building originally served as the maltings for the nearby Hutchinson's Prince of Wales Brewery.
