Description
Nos 107 and 109 on High Cross Street are early 19th century buildings with a red brick front, likely part of a 16th century timber-framed cross-wing. The front features early 19th century red brick, a slate roof with gabled ends, and a wide eaves cornice supported by soffit brackets. The structure has two storeys with three widely spaced sash windows that have margin lights on the first floor and no glazing bars. The ground floor includes a Victorian shop front with a cornice and a pilastered central doorway, along with a carriageway on the left side. The cross-wing, which was originally known as the Cross Keys Inn, has a timber frame that is mostly faced with brick, although the rear gable end displays exposed timber framing. Inside, there is an arched brace roof with a braced queen-post over a tie-beam.
