Description

The iron gates located in the garden at the rear of Skeffington House, which is part of the Newarke Houses Museum, are fine examples of early 18th century wrought ironwork. Originally from Quenby Hall in Leicestershire, these gates were later used as entrance gates at Leicester Royal Infirmary. They feature an overthrow and large square wrought iron piers topped with ornate finials. The gates, along with Skeffington House, Chantry House, and Newarke Wall, contribute to a group of listed buildings in the area.
