Description

The bridge over the River Soar, located at the west end of The Newarke, dates from around 1890. It is constructed of ashlar and features two wide elliptical arches. The stone parapet includes four-centred arch panels and coping. At each end of the bridge, there are octagonal crenellated turrets with panels that have inset cusped arches. In the center, there is a lower octagonal turret that rises from the cutwater. This bridge is part of a series that includes the West Bridge on West Bridge Street, another bridge over the River Soar on Mill Lane, and a bridge over the River Soar on Upperton Road.
